Best Places to Elope in Canada

Happy Canada Day!!! This year has been going so quickly - it feels like we just blink and we are entering a new month. The fact that 2021 is half over already is CRAZY. We are welcoming so many couples into the Fly Free Family for 2021 and 2022 and celebrating love all over the place. As elopement photographers based in Calgary (and traveling all over Western Canada + beyond), we have been SO excited by all of the adventurous couples who are reaching out and asking us for elopement location recommendations so today, to celebrate Canada Day, we put together a list of the Best Places to Elope in Canada!

bride and groom eloping in Saskatchewan

We are unapologetically huge fans of all the incredible places all over Western Canada that make for idyllic places to exchange your vows and start your next chapter. If you love a little behind the scenes make sure to check out this post here on how we find the best elopement locations for our photography couples! When you are ready to save the date (don't worry - we will help you plan it!), contact us here or check out our exclusive elopement packages here! If you love a little behind the sce

Crowsnest Pass (near Fernie, British Columbia!)

Less than 3 hours from Calgary is Crowsnest Pass - easily one of the best places to elope. It is a little more private than some of the more popular places in The Rocky Mountains and the views are incredible. Crowsnest Pass is made up of a collective of 5 small towns (Coleman, Bellevue, Hillcrest, Frank and Blairmore) and accurately refers to itself as "naturally rewarding". Each town has its own unique history if you want to do some exploring, and there are also some epic landscapes and backdrops for you to exchange your vows.

Golden, British Columbia

Drive just a little past Banff and you’ll reach beautiful Golden, British Columbia. We absolutely love meeting couples in Golden because there are so many incredible elopement locations nearby. The below elopement took place on Emerald Lake, nestled right in between Banff and Golden. Even though it rained a little, it was an absolutely perfect day!

Kananaskis, Canmore & Banff

If you want to stay in Alberta, you can hardly find more beautiful places to elope then in K Country! As people, we love making the trip to Kananaskis, Canmore, and Banff and as elopement photographers, we are lucky enough to make the trip regularly! Depending where you want to go, it's only a short 1-1.5 hour drive from Calgary! The Alberta Rocky Mountains National Park will take your breath away. Whether you are dreaming of rolling pins, or high mountain peaks, tell us your vision and we will help you find your dream places to elope in the Rocky Mountains!

Eloping in Saskatchewan: Saskatoon and Regina

British Columbia and the Rocky Mountain areas in Alberta are known for their beauty, but my friends, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE SASKATCHEWAN. There are so many incredible outdoor wedding locations near Regina and Saskatoon. Two people in love and an open field is ALL YOU NEED for us to make some magic. If your timeline is flexible, we can work your timeline around sunset for the most incredible glow. Honestly though, the prairies look good at just about any time of day (although that might be the Alberta in us talking)!
