A Rainy Wedding Day at Pine and Pond

Sometimes you just can't predict the weather! But, occasionally, an unexpected change in weather can be a good thing! Rainy days create the best natural lighting to get really beautiful photo opportunities at a beautiful intimate wedding venue.

"Hello"! My name is Krystal and I am the boss babe at Fly Free Photo and Film. Here, at Fly Free, we are always prepared to capture the best photos in every change of weather! Our team is made up of three awesome photographers and our in house videographer. If you are looking for some assurance that your photos can turn out great if the weather changes suddenly, keep reading.

Dan and Ritz (aka Mike, our awesome videographer) met back when they used to work together and I shot Karlee and Dan's engagement photoshoot back in 2021. It was such a beautiful winter wonderland shoot and now they're married! I love being able to document both couples engagement and wedding photos! Karlee and Dan picked beautiful Fall colors for their wedding; deep wine reds, burnt oranges, pinks, whites and green! The color combos were so perfect and just went so well with the location and their entire day.

Affordable Venues for Weddings

Karlee and Dan got married at Pine and Pond Wedding Venue in Ponoka. If you're a regular here, you know how much we adore this venue for weddings. It is such a dreamy rustic venue! If you're interested in learning more details about Pine and Pond, you can check out one of our blogs - here. We ended up having some rain and having to switch the ceremony last minute to indoors in their tent, but it still worked out perfectly because Pine and Pond have a beautiful clear tent.

Rainy Wedding Day

Thankfully the rain let up just as we were gonna start formals and pictures of the wedding party, so we got to do pictures outside - yes! It was really beautiful outside! The weather was still pretty overcast and cooler so people weren't sweating or hot and muggy which was so nice. We took some gorgeous photos around the property and in the rowboat on the pond. Karlee and Dan had never been row boating before so they had a lot of fun having that first time experience together. Maybe that could be a new wedding tradition...first look, first dance, first boat ride. I like the idea of having firsts together with your love! Afterward, we took pictures with a Mercury truck that Dan and his stepdad actually built. Taking those photos was so special and thoughtful to have the truck be a part of their wedding day. It was a gorgeous white classic truck. I'm so glad that we were able to get some really cool photos of them with it in front of the old Christian school house on the property at Pine and Pond.

Karlee and Dan's reception was tons of fun! They had a choreographed first dance which was super cute. They took dance lessons for it, and they absolutely nailed it! They had this giant marquee "LOVE" sign and their wedding arch as décor for their head table and a backdrop. And they had tons of fun at the photo booth set up from Oh Snap with their loved ones! Their day was spent surrounded by tons of family and friends who love them both so much. Overall it turned out to be a great day out at Pine and Pond, as per usual.
