Sometimes all you need is your favourite person, breathtaking scenery, and an experience designed entirely around the two of you. For Ariana + Justin, their vision was beautifully simple. They wanted an intimate and personal wedding day focused on being together, celebrating their love, and creating what they hoped would be the best day of their lives. From quiet moments while getting ready to an emotional first look and exchanging vows surrounded by nature, every part of the day was intentionally planned to capture the little moments that matter most.
Wanting a location that felt both familiar and adventurous, Ariana + Justin chose the Sheep River Falls area because it reminded them of home while offering something completely unique. They envisioned saying "I do" in a peaceful mountain forest before exploring the riverside for portraits, creating a gallery filled with a beautiful blend of towering trees, mountain landscapes, and flowing water.
More than anything, they looked forward to saying "I do" to the love of their life. Years from now, they hope their photographs will transport them back to every heartfelt moment, preserving a wedding day that feels emotional, romantic, raw, and overflowing with love.
The Magic of Sheep River Falls
Ariana + Justin's love story began long before either of them imagined they would one day say "I do." They first met in elementary school when Ariana was in Grade 1 and instantly developed a crush on the older Grade 5 hall monitor she thought was the prettiest boy she had ever seen. While Justin spent those early years trying to outrun her on the playground, life eventually took them in different directions as they moved through school.
Years later, fate stepped in when they unexpectedly found themselves working together in 2021. This time, their connection was immediate. After their first dinner date, despite the busy restaurant around them, it felt as though they were the only two people in the room. Just two weeks later, they officially became a couple, and only a few years after that, Justin asked Ariana to marry him, turning her childhood crush into her forever.
Their relationship is built on unwavering support, laughter, and encouraging one another to become the best versions of themselves. Ariana admires Justin's kindness, sense of humour, and constant encouragement, while Justin is inspired by Ariana's determination, compassionate heart, and drive to keep growing every day. Whether they are gardening, baking, boating, working on cars, or dreaming of adventures to Salem or Edinburgh, they know that wherever life takes them, the greatest part of the journey is experiencing it together.
If their love story had a soundtrack, it would be A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, a song that perfectly reflects the peace, comfort, and enduring love they have found in each other.
A Love Story Years in the Making for Their Sheep River Elopement
For Ariana + Justin, some of their favourite memories have come from simply embracing life's unexpected moments together. Whether they're travelling, exploring somewhere new, or laughing through situations that don't quite go as planned, they always find a way to make the best of it. One trip, in particular, still makes them laugh. While travelling to pick up another vehicle, they booked a hotel that looked beautiful online. When they arrived, however, it felt like something straight out of The Shining. Between checking for bedbugs, avoiding a chair that looked ready to collapse, and attempting to sleep on a rock hard mattress, the experience was far from luxurious but became one of their favourite stories to look back on. Their playful personalities shine through in everyday life as well, with the affectionate nicknames "Big Chungas" and "Bungas" becoming an inside joke that has stuck ever since they started dating.
Although their relationship has always felt natural and easy, they have still embraced important milestones together. Moving in together only a month and a half after they started dating could have been daunting, but instead, it confirmed just how compatible they were. Buying their first home together was another exciting chapter, proving that even life's biggest decisions felt easier when they faced them as a team.
When it came time to get engaged, the proposal was just as genuine as their relationship. After searching for the perfect ring together, they discovered a jewellery store while attending a friend's wedding in Grande Prairie. They designed a ring they both loved, and although Justin originally planned to wait before proposing, he quickly realized he couldn't. Back at their hotel, he got down on one knee and asked Ariana to marry him, creating an intimate and unforgettable moment that perfectly reflected their love story. Sometimes the most meaningful proposals aren't the ones that are planned for months, but the ones that simply feel right in the moment.
A Stress Free All Inclusive Elopement
Some wedding days stay with you forever, and this was definitely one of them. Even though there were several behind the scenes moments that could have easily changed the course of the day, everything fell into place exactly as it was meant to. Thanks to an incredible team, flexibility, and a little wedding day magic, the couple experienced nothing but joy, beautiful moments, and a celebration that couldn't have turned out more perfectly.
After an 8.5 hour drive to be there, everything came together thanks to an incredible team. Brad, our officiant who is included in our all inclusive package, did a phenomenal job leading the ceremony, while Monika stepped in to beautifully capture the getting ready moments and the couple's first look. It was a true team effort from start to finish.
Every detail reflected their personalities. Their motto, "Till Death Do Us Part and Even Longer," perfectly matched their dark, romantic aesthetic. From the coffin shaped ring box to the bride's stunning black inspired details and two carefully chosen pairs of shoes, one for the ceremony and one for the hike to the waterfall, every element felt uniquely them. Even when we accidentally left their beautiful black cake topped with black strawberries back at the Airbnb, they simply laughed it off. Their relaxed, easygoing attitude made the entire day a joy to photograph.

Although rain had been in the forecast all week, the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Soft overcast skies created the moody atmosphere the bride had always envisioned, inspired by the landscapes of Iceland and Ireland. Later, the clouds opened just enough to reveal sunshine before ending the day with a breathtaking sunset that painted the sky with incredible colour.
The adventure didn't stop at the ceremony. We explored waterfalls, wandered along the river, and even photographed the couple with their rental truck. The bride's gorgeous dress and flowing veil came alive in the wind, creating some of the most breathtaking images of the day. Every location seemed more beautiful than the last, and honestly, I could have photographed these two for hours.
Some couples make every moment feel effortless, and this was one of those weddings. Their kindness, their love story, and their calm, joyful approach to every unexpected moment served as a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful wedding days aren't about perfection. They're about celebrating your story together, exactly as it unfolds.

Some locations are beautiful because of the view. Others become unforgettable because of the moments created there. Bighorn Lookout offered the perfect backdrop for Ariana and Justin to slow down, soak in the mountain scenery, and create photographs that feel timeless. Every image reflects not only the beauty of the Rockies but also the trust, laughter, and connection they experienced throughout the day.
