Fish Creek Park Calgary - Engagement Session

I honestly couldn't have had more fun shooting Britt and Alex's engagement photos at Fish Creek Park in Calgary, which is a great engagement photoshoot location. The happy couple were smiling brightly with looks of love, goofy faces and excitement *cough cough*, as they embraced their pup, Piper, and each other, in the snow. Brittany and Alex made great use of some cute signs in their engagement photos - check out our blog called What to Bring to an Engagement Shoot, for tips on pets, signs and more.

I love taking engagement photos. One of my favorite parts of being a Calgary wedding photographer, is really connecting with my couples and bringing out their personalities, and letting them have fun together while I take their photos, not feeling too posed.

Here is a bit of Brittany and Alex’s proposal story, they originally were supposed to get engaged at Niagara Falls but had to move to a back-up plan.. in their own words: “Enter the back-up plan, we planned a trip to Banff the following weekend. The night before we left, Britt stumbled upon a ring box. She got weird, but never said a word. Fast forward to the Banff Springs Hotel, my planned proposal location. Britt introduced me to skating, so I planned to propose on the ice, after falling (not a stretch). Little did we know, it had been a very warm winter in Banff and the ice was not frozen.... anywhere. So, after trudging through the trees to get to a field of a soon to be skating rink (Britt complaining she had to pee for the entire trip, a common Britt trait), I started to get down on one knee, when she grabbed me by the shoulders, pulled me up and very loudly said “I have to pee!” On top of really needing to use the bathroom, little did I know that she also knew exactly what I was trying to do. Fast forward to a second failed skating attempt; the ice in town was also not frozen yet. So, we threw in the towel and decided to head to our hotel and get ready for dinner (the Grizzly House of course). We got to our hotel, which we had a $200 voucher for only to present the voucher and be told we had the wrong chain. We both laughed at the day and headed to our room. I ended up proposing to Britt in the privacy of our hotel room, the perfect example of who we are.”

Brittany and Alex love being in each other’s presence. Some activities they enjoy doing together are making food, cuddling, enjoying a glass of wine, and creating charcuterie boards together. (Which I might add is a great excuse to eat while filling out our "Get to know you" questionnaire!)

We are so excited for their upcoming wedding at Bowness Park. I'm sure it will be filled with just as many laughs and funny faces as their engagement session! haha and Hey, Britt! I think my new best friend should be allow to attend! ;) hehe Alright, enough from me, enjoy some of their awesome photos!
