No stress. No rush. Just love, presence, and getting married. That’s exactly how Amanda and John’s day felt, surrounded by the people who mattered most to them. Set against the breathtaking Rocky Mountain backdrop in Canmore at the Rundleview Parkette, their wedding reflected everything they value most — mountain views, meaningful connection, and the quiet beauty that defines Canmore wedding venues. The outdoors and the Canadian Rockies have always brought them peace, and celebrating here felt like a natural extension of who they are together.
Adventuring side by side has shaped their relationship from the very beginning, and their wedding day unfolded as a reflection of their shared love for nature, simplicity, and intention.

Rundleview Parkette Was Always the Plan
One moment that perfectly captures their relationship happened just over a year into dating, during a hike to a waterfall. What started as a simple adventure quickly turned into something bigger when they decided to climb higher, only to realize they were in over their heads. Loose shale, slipping roots, and no clear way back down left them with one choice: keep going.
So they did. Together.
They worked through the stress, steadied each other, and moved forward side by side until they reached the view. It’s become a quiet metaphor for how they approach life — embracing adventure, making space for hard moments, and trusting they’ll find their footing along the way. That same connection shows up in everyday life too, from finishing each other’s thoughts to sharing the same instincts without needing words.
That hike says everything about them. They don’t turn back when things get hard. They move forward together, even when the path isn’t clear. So when it came time to choose where to get married, it wasn’t really a question. A mountain ceremony at Rundleview Parkette, surrounded by the peaks they love, was always the plan.
The Sensory Canmore | The Story of How They Met and the Proposal in Canmore, Alberta
They met through mutual friends, standing side by side as a bridesmaid and a groomsman at a wedding. Before that day, they had crossed paths only once, though both are convinced fate had been quietly nudging them together long before. At the time, the timing was off. Nothing came of it, and they continued on with their lives, happily single and not looking for anything more.
Then came the wedding. Amanda noticed John right away. He was handsome, interesting, and just off limits enough to catch her attention. John noticed Amanda, too. She wasn’t just cute. She had confidence, presence, and a spark that was impossible to ignore. She was real, a little intimidating, and exactly the kind of person you don’t forget.
Not long after, John planned a surprise proposal during a family photo shoot in Canmore. He quietly looped in their Canmore photographer ahead of time, hoping to capture the moment without giving anything away. Of course, the morning didn’t go as planned. They slept in, arrived late, and felt a little scattered. But once things settled, John seized the moment. While Amanda helped their toddler throw rocks into the river, he got down on one knee.
The proposal was unexpected, beautifully imperfect, and captured exactly as it happened. Just like their story, it wasn’t polished or planned down to the minute. It was real, meaningful, and completely theirs.
Canmore Wedding Venues
They chose a stunning fall celebration in Canmore, surrounded by 45 of their closest friends and family. The ceremony took place at Rundleview Parkette, framed by sweeping mountain views and moody skies. Despite a forecast calling for rain all day, the weather held off, giving them dramatic light and clouds that only added to the magic.
After their ceremony, we explored Canmore for portraits before heading to The Sensory Canmore, one of the most intimate and inviting Canmore wedding venues. The rain finally arrived once everyone was safely inside, creating the coziest atmosphere for their reception. Later that evening, they stepped back outside for sunset portraits in the Canadian Rockies that felt straight out of a magazine.
With their two little boys included in the wedding party and their down-to-earth energy present in every moment, the entire day felt heartfelt, warm, and deeply personal.
Beyond the wedding day, becoming parents has been one of the seasons that has shaped their relationship the most. Raising their boys has strengthened their partnership and deepened their bond, showing up in the way they support each other and move through life as a team. Choosing each other has always been at the centre of their story, and it was felt in every moment of their celebration.
