For Jess and Dan, adventure has always been a part of the mix. These two have enjoyed traveling the globe together for some time - from saying I love you in Amsterdam to international travel in Belize. When it came to a wedding, there was no doubt that choosing a photographer ready for an adventure was a must and a destination Silvertip Resort wedding was the perfect spot.
Planning A Destination Wedding - The Back Story
Want to hear potentially the sweetest part of this story? If I had to choose, I might choose this - Jess and Dan were brought together by their dogs! Come on! Dan’s black lab, Remi, and Jess’s Golden Retriever, Sully brought the couple together in the early days as the dogs quickly formed a bond and got along perfectly. Ultimately, Jess’s adventurous spirit attracted Dan to her while Dan’s respectful and caring attention to Jess had her seeing hearts. It’s no wonder their proposal story is ripe with adventure. On a business trip to Alaska, Dan arranged for a surprise cabin rental and helicopter ice-climbing adventure. As Jess sat to catch her breath after climbing out of the moulin, Dan took the chance to propose - the rest is history!
The Silvertip Resort Wedding
After exchanging I love yous in the Austrian Alps - at a destination wedding no less - Dan and Jess knew that they too wanted a destination wedding. “We loved the experience a destination wedding brought for ourselves as guests. We wanted to give our guests an adventure and the same type of experience that we have when we visit a beautiful spot.” And that beautiful spot? Canmore, Alberta, Canada! Midday, while a string quartet played at the Silvertip, guests enjoyed a glass of champagne and toasted the newly married couple. From the first look at each other from opposite ends of the aisle, to the dip after kissing the bride, to celebrating with friends - this gorgeous group of loved ones spent the day celebrating the love that Jess and Dan share.
Adventure and stunning views are exactly what we got for this beautiful Canmore wedding, the Silver Tip never fails to disappoint. Thankfully canmore also offers a handful of beautiful places to take wedding portraits, so in true Jess and Dan style we set off on a little adventure with their wedding party and had some fun while doing it. The wedding party enjoyed shots from a Shot Ski that Jess had thoughtfully shipped up ahead of time. A bottle of bourbon that was buried at their romantic engagement session was sadly not recovered - though the intrigue and adventure in attempting to find it was entertaining just the same! Nonetheless, it was a beautiful day with many laughs and memories made in the company of lifelong friends.
The After Glow
Here is what Jess had to say, post-wedding:
“The entire experience with Krystal and her team from start to finish has been nothing short of incredible. Krystal knows what she's doing. Her down to earth demeanor with her artistic eye for what looks good (and what doesn't) helped us throughout our wedding day. We knew we liked her from the first Zoom meeting we had with her! Planning a destination wedding can be such a challenge- and while the day wasn't without its stresses, Krystal and Mike (our videographer) were the reason we could hold it all together. They lobbied for us, stood up for us, and even took care of us. I don't have words for how thankful my husband and I are that we came across Krystal and that she was available. Krystal has peppered in little surprises for us to make reliving the day so fun and exciting. She has truly thought of everything so that our experience goes beyond just the one day (our wedding day.) Her communication is A+. Her team members are top notch (Mike is AMAZING.) We loved working with her behind-the-scenes coordinator, Ty. It wasn't just about the quality of work she provided- it was her demeanor, her humor, and her friendship. I cannot stress enough that if you do not yet have a photographer for your day- you are making the wrong decision by not going with Krystal and her all-star team. I know how hard it is to scour through all the reviews across vendor profiles to try and make the right decision, but trust me. This is the right decision. Choose Fly Free Photography.”
