Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement Photos

Megan and Lonny knew they were right for each other pretty early on in their relationship. They have so much in common - they love hiking, spending time in the great outdoors, Rocky Mountain views, and have a taste for adventure. It was only natural that after they got engaged, we headed to take Rocky Mountain National Park engagement photos.

Taking Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement Photos in the Winter

These two were absolute naturals in front of the camera and even though we had to wait for the weather to cooperate, it turned out amazing. If you are dreaming of the same kind of winter engagement photos in the Rocky Mountains, always keep an eye on the weather forecast! We always encourage you to dress for the weather, but we also know that we Canadians can tough out a few photos in a sweater most of the time. Even though we are always ready to expect the unexpected, after 8 years of this, Mike and I are prepared for anything. A Canmore Engagement Story (for adventurous couples!)

In case you love a proposal story as much as we do, Megan and Lonny have a good one! Even though Lonny had a ring made for her in advance, he kept getting her to look at rings to throw her off the trail! They had a trip planned to go to Canmore and Megan wanted to go on a sunrise hike. A proposal was the perfect way to start the day! Even though the sunrise hike was Megan's idea, she's not really a morning person so the morning of, she didn't want to go! Lonny agreed but she had a sense he was disappointed so she sucked it up and went - clearly not knowing what was to come!

About ten minutes into the hike, Megan's headlamp burnt out so they used a tiny flashlight as a backup. Halfway through the walk, they stopped to give the dog water but their backpack (with the ring inside!) started rolling down the mountain - at least 50 feet before it got caught on some trees!!! Megan was laughing, considering she thought worst case she'd have to share her water...

Morning Sunrise Proposal in the Rocky Mountains

When they finally made it to the top for the sunrise, they found a spot sheltered from the wind and enjoyed breakfast (okay, summit beers). Lonny sneakily set up a tripod to take photos, which he always did at the summit. It was windy and Megan started getting cold and wanted to go down - Lonny had to convince her to let him take more pictures! He told her to grab something out of his bag and she pulled out a candy ring pop (an inside joke between the two of them!). While she was enjoying the morning treat, he grabbed the real ring.

The best part: he caught the whole thing on camera! They are clearly off to a great start together and we can't wait to see their next adventure!
