Kristi and Jordan wanted their wedding day to feel relaxed, romantic, personal, and completely true to who they are together.
Malta felt like the perfect place to bring that vision to life. With its beautiful architecture, dreamy beaches, and sense of adventure around every corner, it offered something different while still feeling incredibly romantic. More than anything, Kristi and Jordan wanted their photos to capture their love exactly as it is. The way they count on each other, laugh together, and are completely themselves around one another.
Years from now, those are the moments they will want to remember most. That is what makes a Malta elopement so special. It is not just about travelling somewhere beautiful. It is about creating a destination elopement filled with connection, adventure, romance, and moments that feel completely your own.
Kristi and Jordan’s Journey to Their Destination Elopement
Like many modern love stories, Kristi and Jordan’s began on Hinge. They immediately connected and spent days talking nonstop before realizing there had been one small misunderstanding. Kristi thought Jordan lived in Calgary when he actually lived in Lethbridge, while Jordan thought Kristi lived in Montana instead of Chestermere. They laughed, assumed the distance meant things probably would not go anywhere, but decided to meet for dinner anyway.
That first date quickly proved there was something worth pursuing. Conversation came naturally, skipping the usual small talk and moving straight into deeper conversations. Kristi remembers thinking Jordan was sweet, silly, and a little nerdy, while Jordan remembers being immediately drawn to Kristi and how effortless their connection felt.
Their relationship has continued with that same mix of love, laughter, and communication. Kristi loves Jordan’s sense of humour, perseverance, and willingness to talk through things, while Jordan admires Kristi’s passion, drive, and commitment to being true partners. Even the difficult conversations have become an important part of their story, allowing them to understand each other better and grow stronger together.
Of course, there has been plenty of laughter along the way. On their first date, Jordan accidentally told Kristi that he was there because “beggars can’t be choosers,” only to be completely mortified when Kristi explained what the phrase actually meant. Somehow, he still earned a second date. From their original location mix up to Kristi waking up in a hot hotel room desperately searching for a window and declaring, “I’m suffocating,” their relationship has never been short on stories they can laugh about together.
They also share a love for staying active, being outdoors, Disney, sports, and trying new things. Travel has become another meaningful part of their relationship, pushing them outside their comfort zones and creating some of their favourite memories. While Jordan might choose Mexico as a favourite trip and Kristi would pick Disney, they both agree that they are ready for new experiences together.
So perhaps it is fitting that they could never choose just one song to describe their love story. Instead, whenever either of them hears a love song, they think of each other. Now, their next adventure takes their story even farther from home as they celebrate their love with a destination elopement in Malta.
The “Yes” That Led Them to a Malta Elopement
Kristi and Jordan’s relationship has always been rooted in choosing each other, even when things were not easy. Early on, they faced a difficult conversation about long distance and whether their relationship could realistically continue. Later, a family trip to Disneyland brought another challenge as they worked through different expectations and learned how important communication and teamwork would be in their future together. Those moments were not always simple, but they helped strengthen their relationship and showed them how committed they were to working through life side by side.
Fittingly, Disneyland also became the setting for their proposal. During a trip with just the two of them, Jordan planned to propose in front of the castle. While they were taking photos, he quietly held the ring box behind Kristi so only the photographer could see what was coming. When Kristi turned around, Jordan asked if she would be the Beauty to his Beast. He had originally prepared a longer proposal, but in the moment, this felt much more like them.
That yes became the beginning of their next adventure. Whether dreaming about Disney Sea in Tokyo, relaxing on a beach in Bora Bora, or simply spending time together, Kristi and Jordan are happiest when they get to experience life side by side.
For their wedding day, that same feeling is what matters most. They are looking forward to laughing, enjoying each other, and celebrating without the pressure of pleasing everyone else. Choosing a destination elopement in Malta gives them exactly that. A day centred on intimacy, connection, adventure, and simply being together.
A Romantic Day for Two in Malta
Kristi and Jordan’s Malta elopement was planned as a two day experience, which gave them the chance to slow down, enjoy every moment, and take in everything Malta had to offer without feeling rushed. From recommending vendors to helping shape the overall experience, every detail was planned with their personalities and vision in mind.
Before Malta, Kristi and Jordan done their engagement session in Waterton with me. When they started talking about eloping somewhere abroad, Greece was one of the destinations they considered. Malta came up as another possibility as I had just spent a month there prior and I fell in love, and with Jordan being such a huge history lover, it immediately sparked his interest. In the end, Malta felt like the perfect fit for them. It brought together history, incredible architecture, Mediterranean scenery, and the sense of adventure they were looking for.
Their first day began with getting ready and sharing their first look at the hotel. From there, we explored a few beautiful locations around Malta for portraits before heading out on a private water taxi. It gave the day such a romantic European feel as they travelled across the water and took in the surrounding architecture.
The evening ended with a private yacht charter at sunset, with Valletta in the background. It was the perfect way to finish the first day. Relaxed, beautiful, and completely centred around the two of them.
Day two took them to Gozo, where the pace stayed just as easygoing. They spent time exploring the island, enjoyed lunch together, then changed for more portraits through the streets and near one of the churches. The day eventually led them to one of the beaches, where they played in the water, climbed along the rocks, stopped for ice cream, and simply enjoyed being together.
Because Malta was incredibly hot, splitting the elopement into two days made the entire experience much more comfortable and stress free. It gave Kristi and Jordan time to take breaks, cool off, and enjoy each location instead of trying to fit everything into one long day.
More than anything, the two days reflected exactly who Kristi and Jordan are together. They are relaxed, down to earth, constantly laughing, and clearly so in love. Their Malta elopement was full of history, adventure, romance, and those quiet, playful moments that made the experience feel completely their own.
