Fairy tales and happily-ever-afters may feel like childhood daydreams, but Michelle and
Kenny’s engagement session at Emerald, Peyto & Bow Lake was proof that sometimes those dreams come true. Their love is the kind that feels once-in-a-lifetime—the kind we all secretly hope to find. Working with Fly Free for photography, we had the joy of witnessing it up close, both behind the lens and in the quiet moments in between. What unfolded wasn’t just a regular Banff engagement session, but a living, breathing reminder that real-life magic exists.
Behind the Lens
Their love story reached a new chapter the night Kenny popped the question in the most
dreamy way Michelle could have ever imagined. At the close of the Water Lantern Festival in
Philadelphia, after a cozy dinner and a day sprinkled with light rain (Michelle swears she hadn’t even dressed up for the occasion!), Kenny had one more surprise up his sleeve—Michelle’s sister, secretly waiting to capture the entire moment on film. Michelle says she knew she had found “the one” in Kenny because of the way he finds joy in life’s smallest moments, his happiness always so infectious. For Kenny, the choice was clear—Michelle’s caring heart, loyalty, and brilliance made him certain he wanted forever with her. That magical proposal was just the beginning, leading to an engagement session that brought their love story to life all over again.

A Banff Engagement Session to Remember
Dreaming of an adventurous engagement session? The Canadian Rockies are the perfect backdrop, with towering peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and scenic trails for couples who love a little thrill. Michelle and Kenny embraced the beauty of the mountains, letting the breathtaking views of Emerald, Peyto, and Bow Lake frame their love story in the most unforgettable way. Why pick just one lake, when you can have all three?
What makes these lakes truly special isn’t just their beauty, but the peace they bring. Emerald Lake shimmers in calming green, Peyto Lake offers breathtaking views with only the sound of the wind, and Bow Lake’s wide-open vistas create a quiet space to simply connect. Together, they showcase the Rockies’ beauty while offering a peaceful escape where love feels even more meaningful.
Michelle and Kenny’s engagement session was nothing short of unforgettable. Their journey
began in Korea, where Michelle was born, and together they picked out authentic outfits that added a personal and cultural touch to their photos. When they arrived at Emerald Lake, fate had a little surprise waiting—a golden tour bus full of Koreans. The moment they stepped out, everyone wanted to stop, chat, and take pictures with them. Michelle loved being able to connect, and for a while, they felt like celebrities—it was such a highlight of the day.
From there, we headed to Peyto and Bow Lake, where the views were nothing short of
breathtaking. Michelle and Kenny’s playful, down-to-earth energy made capturing their love
effortless—they were loving, funny, and absolutely adorable together. Midway through, a storm cloud rolled in, bringing a sprinkle of rain that encouraged us all to slow down, laugh, and go with the flow. The result? Some of the most natural, heartfelt images of the day.
And then, as if the Rockies wanted to put their stamp on the session, a rainbow arched across the sky, painting the perfect ending to an already magical adventure. To top it off, they met another family visiting from Philly, giving them yet another chance to connect and share their joy with new friends along the way.

Here is what Michelle and Kenny had to say:
"I can’t stop thinking about how amazing our engagement shoot with Fly Free Photography and Film in Calgary was! Neither of us had ever been professionally photographed before, so I was a little nervous going in. Krystal and Mike instantly made us feel comfortable and confident. They had everything perfectly planned, from the timeline and poses to helping us prep for the weather and even coordinating our outfits. We didn’t have to stress about a single thing because they took care of us completely. The session itself was such a blast. We were laughing the whole time and it honestly felt like we were just hanging out with friends who happened to be insanely talented photographers. And the final photos and videos? Absolutely stunning. I’m not usually the type to be easily impressed, but they truly outdid themselves. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime shoot and want a team who makes the whole experience fun, easy, and unforgettable, I 10/10 recommend Fly Free!"
