After the realisation that a Portugal wedding wasn’t going to work due to the logistics of backpacking with Matt’s uniform, the Rocky Mountain dream became a reality for Marie and Matt. From the very beginning, they envisioned a wedding day that felt intimate, unforgettable, and completely their own. After clearing up the confusion, the two finally met for a skating date that quickly turned into the beginning of something special.

Some of their favourite memories include wandering through Hawaii in ripped dollar store ponchos during a rainstorm and taking a spontaneous seven kilometre walk along the beaches of Nice, France after a long day of travel. One of their most meaningful memories took place during their first trip to Italy, where they exchanged their first "I love you" as the streetlights along the river came on at sunset. That same spirit of love and spontaneity carried into their proposal. During a family birthday celebration, Matt surprised Marie by revealing there was one final gift waiting to be opened. After mentioning earlier that he wished they would get married, Marie presented him with exactly that.
Surrounded by loved ones from both sides of the family, she asked the question, creating a heartfelt moment neither of them will ever forget. Their wedding day began with a first look at Abraham Lake, followed by photos with the bride's daughter who were joining us for this adventure. Despite choosing a date in November, the couple was treated to unexpectedly beautiful weather. The sun was shining, there was very little snow at lower elevations, and the calm conditions created the perfect opportunity for a helicopter adventure into the mountains.
After arriving at Rockies Heli, the group took flight and headed to a breathtaking mountaintop location for the ceremony. The couple chose to visit two different helicopter-accessible locations, allowing them to experience even more of the stunning alpine scenery. Following their ceremony and portraits at the first location, they flew to a second mountain lake that was partially frozen over. In a sweet coincidence, the open water formed a heart shape, creating the perfect backdrop for additional photos.
To make the experience even more personal, they brought along fresh pastries and coffee, a nod to the bride's French roots. As temperatures began to cool, the warm drinks were a welcome treat, while the daughters of the bride stayed warm by doing pushups on the mountaintop between photos. The combination of incredible scenery, meaningful details, and perfect weather made for an unforgettable day in the Rockies.
