Winter Kananaskis Elopement: Faith Based

Ola and Matt’s intimate wedding in Kananaskis was a testament not only to one another but also to nature, God, and their newly blended family. It was truly a moment in time to bind them eternally - surrounded by a selection of loved ones, including their children. Having experienced incredible moments together in Alberta and the Rocky Mountains it made sense to have their wedding in the heart of Kananaskis. Their firm foundation of love for and commitment to one another made planning this wedding together a breeze. Capturing their most precious moments for their winter Kananaskis elopement was an absolute honour - ensuring they will be able to look back on this special day forever.

Bringing Together Two Families - The Back Story

Having met online, Ola waited a painstaking ten days for Matt’s initial reply - but after the first date Matt knew he was in deep! Both knew right away that their feelings for each other were strong. Ola recognized traits in Matt of her very best friend - a sign that he was truly the perfect fit for her as she could be fully herself with him. Matt was in awe of Ola and was determined to be nothing less than the ultimate gentleman, he dropped her off at home safely after their first date but was sure to send her with bear spray to ward off any potential suitors! 

Matt’s unrelenting resilience drew Ola to him, while her ability to laugh as though no one has ever hurt her captivated Matt. Their proposal was nothing short of incredible. Matt surprised Ola with a proposal on the anniversary of their first date - after an undeniable acceptance Matt again surprised Ola with their family and children back at their home. Matt’s daughter decorated the home in rose petals and balloons to mark the meaningful occasion. The plans were confirmed now all that remained was to plan the perfect day for this perfect couple.

A Sacred, Intimate Ceremony

Sharing vows and pledging themselves to one another was no small gesture to Ola and Matt, who have both been married before. It was important to both of them to be able to honour their commitment to one another in the beauty of the mountains, with their children, and in the presence of God. Matt and Ola opted for my all-inclusive elopement package to ensure the memories and emotions of the day were captured forever. They decided on an intimate wedding but chose to have our videographer in addition to photographer, onsite to capture the genuine love, emotions, and memories of the day on film to later share with those who would not be in attendance. 

After a slow morning - read sleeping in - and the girls having their hair done together we were ready to get things started. On a chilly winter morning in Kananaskis, the ceremony opened with a beautiful daily prayer and was followed by Matt and Ola exchanging vows not only to one another but also to their children - demonstrating the strong family bonds and commitment. The simple and much anticipated “I do” sealed the deal with a kiss and started forever for these two soulmates. 

The ladies donned classy fur coats while the men were testaments to that from which they came in rich earthy tones. God’s creation was on full display in the mountains where panoramic views of the mountains laid out the ideal backdrop for our ideal bride and groom. Truly, I don’t think there was a dry eye around as the simple, authentic love that Matt and Ola share for one another is palpable in their presence.

Having video and images to share with family and friends made reliving their wedding an absolute dream for Matt and Ola. Knowing they had made their commitment to one another official, they look forward to the adventures and experiences that their love will continue to bring them. As for me, I couldn’t be happier for this incredible couple.
