Shay and Austin originally were going to get married in Canmore but after everything shut down due to the current state of the world, they planned an intimate ceremony on their acreage that they just bought and built a house on in Disley, Saskatchewan. Last minute plans can sometimes turn out to be the best plans.
The acreage was perfect for a wedding and the surrounding land is owned by a friend who let them use the space for photos and it was a photographers gold mine! It had an old stone house, an old bridge, train tracks and farmland with canola and wheat fields, a plethora of spectacular places to capture.
We did a first look on their property, which honestly, I think are so special and a romantic moment between the couple. The ceremony was on the back patio and live streamed for friends and family who were unable to attend. There were seven children in the wedding party and after the ceremony 2 of the kids drove around in the fields in a motorized little car with a just married sign and noise makers on the back of it. Their fur baby Diesel went chasing after them trying to get the noise makers and it was just the sweetest thing to see. Dinner was catered and served under a big tent and it was so delicious, yummiest brisket ever.
After dinner we were able to sneak the newlyweds off for a sunset photo shoot which turned out to be stunning using all the old character pieces on the neighbors land. We even got to use coloured smoke bombs!
We also booked an adventure session in Canmore and Moraine Lake to finish off our photo collection, allowing us to give Shay and Austin the best of both worlds. From prairies to turquoise water to mountains and forest, we love being able to bring our clients visions to life. These shoots were so much fun and full of adventure! I mean, have you ever seen a couple on a paddle board in wedding attire? It was amazing! Shay got her dress good and dirty but we had best time and captured memories that will last a lifetime.
