A Dreamy Kananaskis Elopement

Elopements are wildly romantic! Why? Because without all the stress of planning a big elaborate wedding, you get to focus on truly enjoying your day with your love! And what better place to elope then with majestic Rocky mountains as your backdrop!

Elopement Packages

Here, at Fly Free, we LOVE helping couples plan smaller, intimate weddings! We believe the smaller the wedding the more you can share the moment with your loved ones! Our priority is to make sure you enjoy your special day and that it is truly unique to you! If you are on the hunt for amazing elopement photographers, you have come to the right place, you can learn more about our team and the elopement packages we offer.

I - Krystal (Fly Free's boss babe), shot Tyler's sister, Kassie's wedding last year at Maple Del Acres. If you love rustic weddings check out Kassie's; it was so beautiful. When Tyler and Makayla got engaged he reached out and originally they were planning a BC wedding, but plans changed as they sometimes do. In the end, they decided they wanted to have a small intimate wedding, and I had the absolute pleasure of helping them plan their elopement! They booked our Elopement Package, which includes florals done by Chels at Adventure Floral and hair and make-up by Sam at House of Beauty! (Check out what else we offer in our Elopement Package.) Their wedding took place in Kananaskis at Kananaskis Village which is a beautiful location for an intimate wedding!

Tyler and Makayla did a "first touch" outside before going to the ceremony location. Much like a first look, a first touch takes place before the ceremony. The difference is that the couple doesn't see each other until the ceremony. Sometimes couples go back to back, or place an object or a wall between them so that they can't see each other. Tyler and Makayla held hands while standing back to back as they read each other's love notes from each other.

This was such a sweet intimate moment that I'm so glad to have captured and a great unique alternative to a first look if you still want the tradition of seeing each other for the first time down the isle! Makayla ordered the flowers that were on their wedding arch from Amazon, and they ended up matching perfectly with her bouquet that Chelsea created! The orange drapery added a stunning pop of color! Tyler and Makayla had so many thoughtful details and touches added throughout their entire day!

Micro Wedding

To add to the special details of their day, Makayla's bridesmaids wore beautiful deep orange dresses with super unique bouquets, and Tyler's groomsmen wore suspenders and colorful striped socks! The mountain in the background for their ceremony was specifically picked, as it has special sentiment to Tyler and Makayla. This mountain is so special to them that Makayla is planning to get a tattoo of it. They had a beautiful, cushy micro wedding with a small group of their loved ones and did a cord of three strands. 'What is a cord of three strands?', you might ask. Well, I'll tell yah! Each of their mother's gave them a piece of string that represented each family. Tyler and Makayla worked together to tie two strings together with a third string which represents God. This ceremony is based off of a scripture in Ecclesiastes 4:12 which says, "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." I really liked this addition to symbolize bringing God into their marriage.

Mountain Wedding

After wedding party photos around the property we took off for some fun adventure photos with the bride and groom. Using our "Just Married" sign which, if you didn't know, is part of our rentals. Here at Fly Free, we love to make your special day as easy as we can! For anyone who books with the Fly Free Family we have a whole rental section for couples to use. We have everything from florals, signs, ring boxes, and more! Tyler and Makayla's mountain wedding photos were stunning, they were both glowing with happiness throughout the whole day!

You don't have to wear hikers and spandex to have a mountain wedding, there are tons of locations we have in our back pockets you can go to in your beautiful dress and sharp looking suit. We may recommend bringing hikers for some of the walks but overall, you can still look gorgeous against the epic landscapes.
