It Takes a Village

Calgary Wedding Photographer | YYC Photography | Calgary Brides | Fly Free Photos

When you have a baby, you often hear people say “it takes a village”, referring to how crucial a good support system is when starting a family. From the moment I walked into the church where Bethany and Chris were to be married in a few short minutes, those words rang so true. Bethany & Chris have #avillage. They are surrounded by love, support, and guidance. Everywhere I looked, I could see the love their “village” had for them. It was a rather surreal feeling to be honest #loveyourpeople #lovehard #family.

The ceremony was beautifully intimate and the room was filled with guests who were beaming with joy and happiness {waiting 7 long years will do that to a crowd, hey guys? #foreverlove #waitedalifetime}. It may sound odd to say, but you could feel and see the pride, love, and acceptance in the room. There were tears and there were laughs, but most of all there was a sense of community. A room full of people promising to support and love this beautiful couple through anything life may throw at them. Their personal vows touched the heart of everyone in the room {including this old sap... I cry a lot} #happytearsalways #whathappensbehindthelensstaysbehindthelens. There, stood two high school sweethearts as madly in love {if not more} than the day they met #powercouple.

After the ceremony, the bridal party headed to Pearce Estates located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for photos. DING-DANG. Let’s take a second and talk about that location #worththetrip #yycphotographylocation. Trees, water, rock walls. This place has it all. We didn’t have any fun at all {sarcasm alert #dadjoke}. This wedding party was hilarious! We had so many laughs along the way. #pearceestatesyyc

The ceremony was at the Forest Lawn Community Hall. I quickly found out all of the food was homemade, prepped, and cooked by Chris’ Dad because well, #greekdadsdoitbest. The sheer quantity was impressive, while the quality of that food was outstanding. I have always heard Greek people don’t mess around in the kitchen, and boy was that the truth {my mouth is watering thinking about that Solvaki}. There was traditional Greek salad, potato salad, meat balls in tomato sauce, pita bread, homemade taziki, and an endless number of solvaki skewers. I eat a lot of wedding food #spoileralert #jobperks, but this. THIS WAS AMAZING. I ate an embarrassing amount with no shame ha ha #shamelesseats.

After dinner, I was able to sneak away with Beth, Chris, and their effortlessly adorable son for a quick family mini session. Baby Ben stole the show, of course #obvi.

Thank you for sharing your special day with me. Your wedding day was one I will never forget. You have a beautiful family and I wish you a life full of love and happiness. #gratefulforthisjob #myheart #thankyou

Cheers,

Amber
