Calgary Elopement - Against all odds

Calgary Elopement Photographer | Adventure Wedding Photographer | Fly Free Photos

Nothing was going to keep these two from exchanging vows, not even a global pandemic! At the end of March, Anna and Jon had their outdoor Calgary elopement and exchanged vows in a very intimate setting at the Rundle Ruins, downtown which offers very unique Romanesque architecture. We captured beautiful shots against the sandstone pillars and even more gorgeous shots at a nearby park.

This romantic story did not unfold as originally planned! THREE venues canceled on them at the last minute due to the corona virus but that didn't prevent them from making their love a priority. They originally were to be married with all their friends and family at the Croatian center which was forced to close due to government regulations. The couple then planned for their special day to take place in Banff National Park, which was also forced to close just one week before their upcoming nuptials. This all brought them to Kananaskis for their magical day and low and behold, the DAY BEFORE the ceremony the roads closed! I think most couples would have given up and I LOVE that they were determined to make their chosen date their wedding date no matter what. After all friends, in the end it is it all about celebrating your love for one another.

On this chilly day in March, Anna and Jon were joined by Jon's sister and boyfriend from Nova Scotia to witness their perfect day. The hand painted little mermaid pink converse Anna wore were a gift from them and Jon sported red socks and runners as well. Oh, and how could I forget Anna and Jon's sweet dog Hemi was there for all the fun and was a handsome well behaved boy wearing a tie.

Anna's dress was all lace on top with an open back, she wore a light grey shoulder wrap as it was still chilly here in YYC. Her stunning flowers from Mermaid Bicycle had a deep purple in them that really stood out against her maid of honours deep purple dress and light purple shawl. The colours were so vibrant against the snow that blanketed the park.

I am thrilled to have witnessed and captured Anna and Jon say I DO against all odds and really let their love guide them through. Happy 2 Months you two! I can't wait to celebrate with you and your loved ones again next year!!
