Kelsea and Steve's engagement shoot turned out to be the most amazing, unexpected day in the forest. We were supposed to shoot at Sheep River Falls, but when we got there the road was closed and there was no signage anywhere on the way stating so. We figured since we got there first we would just call Kelsea and Steve and let them know of the road closure but of course, we had no cell service! Now most couples would have been upset upon arrival hearing that their planned day was suddenly at a stand still, but not these two! Kelsea suggested we just wander through the woods and oh my goodness, I was so excited to have a spontaneous adventure in the woods!

Barefoot adventures are near and dear to me. Kelsea had no problem taking off her shoes, getting a little dirty and being completely free in the moment. It was too easy to capture the spirit of these two as they played around within the tall trees, danced on the forest floor and had an impromptu snow ball fight, still with Kelsea in flip flops, what a trooper! Did I mention the lighting was perfect! The way the sun cascaded down upon them through the towering trees was astonishing. It was as if Mother Nature was blessing them as they begin their new journey together.

This engagement session was so fun and really gave us a good opportunity to get to know each other a little better. Engagement shoots are a great way for photographers and couples to get comfortable with one another and for us to really cultivate a chemistry. We are looking forward to capturing this down to earth awesome couple exchange vows on August 29th, 2020 in Banff at Mount Norquay, and if something goes sideways and that venue is unable to accommodate them, we know they will be up to a wild forest adventure.
